1. Use the Minecraft wiki page. It can save you loads of time. 2. Unless in a community, take your time and explore to find a place for you to build/mine. This pays off immediately and later on. 3. Make friends/ not enemies...at least until you're ready to fight. 4. Keep your most valuable items in a secure box. NOT on your character. 5. If you're gonna go around at night, take a sword and armor. You'll thank yourself later. 6. For your first home, keep it simple. Make plans and collect resources for something bigger later on. 7. Always keep an extra stock of food. 8. Bored with the way Minecraft looks? Get texture packs! 9. Is Minecraft missing something you think it should have? A mini map, inventory sorting, etc.? There's probably a mod for it. Look around here. If this list helps at least one person, then it was worth typing. Attachments:

If you do not have access to lock a chest you should try to hide your chest somewhere that no one will find it until you make your donation to get lock chests.
The very first thing that you should do is get wood. Wood is very essential in this game because you can make many things with wood. Your starter tools are made with wood. Once you got those tools you start making other tools once you get cobblestone, iron and other types of hard stones.
Any other questions feel free to ask.
